With at least two main stage productions per year, there are ample opportunities for students to play their part, whether on stage or behind the scenes. St. John’s Theatre is an extracurricular program that offers students the opportunity to participate in large-scale productions while gaining valuable experience in all aspects of the performing arts.

Open to students of all experience levels, the program fosters a collaborative, supportive, and fun environment where students can grow both as theatre artists and as individuals. St. John’s has been a member of the International Thespian Society (ITS) for more than 20 years. ITS is an organization that recognizes and honors students who have devoted time and passion to theatre. Members benefit from the prestige and recognition of being part of an honorary organization and the widened perspective of sharing an interest with millions of peers.

Student members of ITS support and participate in mainstage St. John’s Theatre productions, have access to ITS sponsored events throughout the year, and host their own student-run events here at St. John’s, including the annual One-Act Play Festival, which features the work of student writers, actors, and directors.   

Theatre Scholarships for Incoming Students

$500–$1,500 / year for four consecutive years  

Theatre scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate notable achievement in the theatrical arts. Scholarships from $500 to $1,500 are awarded each year, depending on a student’s audition. Auditions are held in January and may be scheduled online after the application deadline.
