We are so excited to be bringing back our SJC Spotlight Musical Theatre Camp for Rising 6th-9th Graders!
SJC Spotlight Musical Theatre Camp will be held from June 15 to 26, Monday through Friday—9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m, at St. John’s College High School!
This is a two-week camp for rising 6th–9th graders of all experience levels. Whether you have been performing for years or are new theatre, this camp will meet students at their level and help them gain skills and confidence, both on and off stage. The camp will include:
Professional Training: Students will participate in conservatory-style classes in voice, dance, acting, and improv, led by theatre professionals and SJC theatre faculty. Instruction will focus on vocal technique, movement, lyric and line interpretation, and audition skills. There will also be plenty of fun acting and improv games to grow your improv skills! NYC based actor and director, Jason Smith, will be returning as our Head Instructor and to co-direct and choreograph our final Showcase.
Final Showcase Performance: Campers will rehearse and perform solo songs and group scenes from Broadway musicals. This year’s theme—Broadway Showstoppers—featuring those musical numbers that make you go “wow, that was amazing.” From shows like Hadestown, Little Women, Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, Wicked, Little Shop of Horrors, and so many more!
Master Classes with Industry Professionals: Local D.C. actors and theatre artists will provide special workshops, offering new perspectives and insight into the professional theatre world and rich arts community right in our own city. This year’s master classes will be taught by D.C. based music director and actress, Marika Countouris and D.C. based actress and vocal instructor Alex De Bard! See the attached brochure to check out their amazing bios!
