St. John’s held its annual Solo and Ensemble Festival this afternoon.
Over fifty band and string students performed in the festival. The students played a piece of music before a judge who adjudicated their performance based upon tone, intonation, technique, interpretation, and musical effect. The students received a grade for their effort.
Mr. Hammann, Chairman of the Performing Arts Department, explains the importance of the festival: “For the students, it is a challenging opportunity for them to select a piece of music, perfect it, and play it before a judge. It’s a great educational opportunity for them musically.”
