Cadet Corps Awards, Scholarships, and Regiment Promotions

On May 18 and 21, 2021, St. John’s Cadet Corps Leadership Program announced this year’s awards and scholarship winners, and next year's regiment leaders, including Cadet Colonel Ryan Fitzgerald '22.

THE PRESIDENT'S LEADERSHIP AWARD is the Cadet Corps’ highest recognition for individual achievement. This award is presented annually to the cadets in each grade level who have made a significant and positive impact on advancing the mission of St. John’s Cadet Corps. THE SERGEANT MAJOR VINCENT FISHER SCHOLARSHIP for excellence in service to the Cadet Corps and contributions to extracurricular activities was presented to Bria Watkins '24.
 
THE SERGEANT MAJOR MICHAEL HACKETT SCHOLARSHIP for excellence in character, education, and leadership was presented to Rafael Visoso '24.
  
THE COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR JOHN W. MCCONNELL SCHOLARSHIP for exemplary leadership and service to the Cadet Corps was presented to Sawyer Lisowski ’22.
 
THE PATRICK S. GILMORE BAND AWARD for outstanding support and leadership in the Regimental School Band was presented to Daniel De Lude ’21.
 
THE CARL M. WACLAWIK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP for co-curricular participation and excellence in the classroom was presented to Roman Richardson ’24
 
THE JOSEPH F. SORGE, JR. SCHOLARSHIP for excellence in the Regimental Band and in the classroom was presented to Jais Kirkman '23 by Joe Sorge '64.
 
SENIOR APPOINTMENTS TO U.S. MILITARY ACADEMIES
Michael Casas ’21 received his appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marines Academy from Mr. Riaz Latifullah, graduate of the USMMA and vice chair of St. John’s Board of Trustees. 
Zachary Fultz ’21 received his appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy from Commander Sean Ponder of the USNA.
