SJC Boys' Relay Sprints to a Penn State Meet Record
The Cadets' track and field team spent the weekend in State College, PA, participating in the Kevin Dare High School Invitational at Penn State.
In the boys' division, the 4x200 meter relay team (Aaron Hansford '16, Omar Garcia '15, Alonzo Ruffin '15 and Eric Harrison '17) finished first and set a new meet record of 1:29.32, a performance that ranks them fourth in the nation. Ruffin (6.99/22.07) and Harrison (7.01/22.10) also placed second and third respectively in both the 60 meter and 200 meter dashes, while Garcia finished second in the 400 meter dash (50.34). Mandela Kabi '15 finished third in the long jump (21'9-3/4"), while the boys' 4x400 meter relay team (Nick Eggleston '18, Garcia, Ruffin and Hansford) finished sixth overall.
In the girls' division, the 4x400 relay team (Sahna Sabbakhan '16, Kasey Ebb '18, Jasmine Graves '15 and Aliya Williams '18) finished sixth overall. Graves and Camryn Edwards '17 (200 meter dash), Ebb and Jailyn Morris '17 (60 meter dash) and Sabbakhan and Williams (400 meter dash) all had strong showings. Taylor Camp '15 competed in the long jump, while the girls' 4x200 meter relay team (Morris, Camp, Edwards and Aneisha Moore '18) finished in 1:48.73, more than a two-second improvement of their last time of 1:51:00.
