On Aug. 3, St. John’s College High School announced Tom Lyons as the new head coach for the SJC rugby program.
Gatorade DC Player of the Year: Maliah Morris ’19
On June 18, Gatorade selected Maliah Morris ’19 as the District of Columbia Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
Gatorade DC Player of the Year: Zach Tsakounis ’18
On May 29, Gatorade announced Zach Tsakounis ’18 as the District of Columbia Baseball Player of the Year.
Girls’ Track and Field Wins First WCAC Team Championship
Despite the clouds and intermittent rain showers, May 19
was an unforgettable day for the Lady Cadets as they brought home the girls’ WCAC track and field team championship for the first time in school history.
St. John’s boys won the school's last track and field championship in the 1960s.
Cadets Win Fifth Consecutive WCAC Title
For the fourth time since 2011, the Cadets defeated DeMatha in the WCAC championship series – this makes five consecutive titles for St. John’s, and six WCAC baseball titles overall in the last eight years.
AFI Day 2018
On May 9, St. John’s Cadet Corps held its annual Awards Ceremony and Pass In Review. This year’s distinguished guest was Bro. Thomas Casey, FSC, auxiliary visitor for DENA.
The Gift of Knowledge
Over the past four years, Donald Purcell, father of Christopher Purcell ’85, has donated hundreds of books on religion and history to St. John’s Fitzpatrick Library from his personal collection.
On April 27-28, the Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, String Ensemble and Chamber Choir traveled to Virginia Beach to participate in a two-day regional music festival, their final festival of the year.
