On Oct. 19, St. John’s hosted an Instant Decision Day in conjunction with the University of Pittsburgh. SJC was one of only six high schools selected from across the country to participate in this program.
Through this Instant Decision Day program, 18 St. John’s seniors received their admission decisions from the University of Pittsburgh in person from Fatmata Koroma, a regional admissions counselor for the university. It was a celebratory event, as all 18 seniors were accepted!
This special event was made possible through the hard work of St. John’s College Counseling Office. “I am very grateful for the leadership of Rosemary Martin, Brad Harlan, Warren Quirett and Anna Garland. Their wealth of expertise and reputation on a national level with hundreds of colleges gives SJC students a distinct advantage in the college process,” said St. John’s President Jeff Mancabelli.
“I’m really excited to have been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh. It feels so good to now have one official college acceptance under my belt,” said Jack Carey ’19.
“Pittsburgh set themselves apart by hosting this admissions program,” added Daniel Beck ’19. “From allowing us to apply to Pittsburgh early, to giving us our admission decisions in such a personal setting, it really helps us reduce our stress and feel empowered to continue our college search.”
“I’m just so proud to have been admitted to such a prestigious school,” said Nkati Amare ’19. “I’m so thankful to the SJC college counseling team and the University of Pittsburgh for helping me pursue my college dreams.”
“The entire SJC community is tremendously proud of our students and all of their impressive accomplishments,” said Brad Harlan, assistant director of college counseling. “We look forward to continuing to assist the Class of 2019 in making their college aspirations a reality.
