Sports Medicine Team & Athletic Training Staff

The Athletic Training staff is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association’s Board of Certification, in which they must maintain their knowledge of health topics through yearly continuing education opportunities. The AT’s multi-faceted approach to healthcare makes them a unique profession to have on the St. John’s campus.

  • After an injury, the Athletic Trainer’s main goal is to return the Cadets back to sport participation as quickly and safely as possible.
  • Our athletic trainers are allied health care providers who have the knowledge to apply and educate others with injury prevention, assessment and management, therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions, and emergency care of sports-related injuries.
  • The ATs can facilitate physician referral amongst the team physicians in accordance with the parents of our Cadets.
  • They collaborate with the school nurse and the Assistant Principle to effectively progress the student-athlete in the Return to Learn and Return to Play Protocols after a concussion injury.
  • The Athletic Training Club is supervised by the ATs and offers the students opportunities to learn about sports medicine directly by observing and applying hands-on experiences with the athletes.
