Presidential Search

Dear SJC Community,

This summer, the St. John’s Presidential Search Committee, in partnership with our consultants from RG 175, have worked diligently to ensure a comprehensive and efficient search for the next president of St. John’s.

In June, Arlyce Seibert of RG175 visited St. John’s for a three-day visit to immerse herself in our community and learn more about our Lasallian culture. During her visit, she was able to share time with members of senior leadership and representative faculty, attend an open house program led by our admissions department, and connect further with graduates, parents, and trustees.

In July, we sent an online survey to the entire St. John’s community asking for their input in this search process. We received nearly 500 responses and are deeply grateful for those who shared their insight and reflections. In addition to the success of the surveying efforts, RG175 conducted trustee interviews as well as interviews with other representatives from our stakeholder communities.

The work this summer has been instrumental in informing the Search Committee and helping create a school profile and job description, referred to as a Statement of Position. The Statement of Position for the role of president at St. John’s was officially released to the public this month. Feel free to review the Statement at your convenience. The Search Committee looks forward to continuing our partnership with RG175 as we conclude the discovery phase and transition into the next phase of our search.

Over the coming weeks, the process will accelerate quickly into the final phases. The Search Committee will interview semifinalists in November. After those interviews, the Committee will identify the finalist candidates and invite them to campus in late November and early December. The finalist visits are intended to provide the candidates with a comprehensive view of St. John’s and allow our community to assess each candidate.

This is an exciting time for our community. The Board of Trustees looks forward to hosting exceptional candidates on campus this fall and completing our fiduciary responsibility to name the new president of St. John’s in a timely manner.

This week, St. John’s begins its 172nd year as the Lasallian school in our nation’s capital. We are confident that our outstanding reputation, as well as our Catholic identity, history, financial stability, and welcoming community, will attract a robust pool of candidates for the position.

We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

St. John Baptist de La Salle… Pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts… Forever.

Sincerely,

Bill Scott P’16,’19, and Korey Neal ’08
