On April 29, the Class of 2028 gathered for their Freshman Mission Mass and to sign their class mission statement.
Each year, the ninth-grade class develops its own specific mission statement—an SJC tradition since 2001. In the spring, a committee of students crafts a statement based on the unique spiritual, academic, and social qualities of their class. After meeting several times to review and revise the draft, the final product is revealed to their classmates at the Freshman Mission Mass. This year’s Freshman Mission Committee included Alexandra Bishop, Sebastian Farmer, Pearce Green, Peter Kimmel, Reuben Lawson, Dakota Price, Anthony Sanchez Hernandez, McKenzie Small, and Ariel Simmons.
The printed mission statement signed by each freshman is then hung in Heritage Hallway. The statements from the current classes are displayed to inspire students and remind them of their goals during their time at SJC and beyond. The mission statement is read annually at their class Mass and at graduation.
Class of 2028 Mission Statement
Being one of the largest classes to date at St. John’s, the Class of 2028 is intentional about building community and connections. Through our Lasallian education, we strive to connect with our grade, as well as the entire St. John’s community inside and outside of the classroom. Our class expands beyond what is familiar to us, welcoming and accepting all that is different. Changes are inevitable in high school. Our adaptive, persistent, and flexible nature plays a significant role in our success. Our class continues to grow into the leaders of the future, facing any challenges thrown at us. We walk not only alongside our peers, but also with God, keeping Him at the forefront of everything we do.
The Class of 2028 entered St. John’s with a goal-oriented and optimistic spirit. We recognize our Lasallian value of faith in the presence of God, combining our ambitions with our beliefs. Our piety reveals our true aspirations to become devoted stewards of ourselves, St. John’s, and the world. We choose to commit to sustaining our ambitious nature for years to come, pushing us to achieve our extracurricular and academic goals to fulfill our vocation. We stepped into St. John’s as many but now we are one, united through our determination and faith, ready to conquer all that steps in our path.
